Our Studio

Pilates Bodyworks is committed to training quality teachers to ensure the high standards pilates is not compromised.

We provide teachers and students with the resources and environment. Our Pilates’ instructors will teach more than just the mat; the will teach you using all the key pieces of Pilates equipment.

 

Teacher-training Programme

As the first and largest Pilates studio in Singapore, Pilates Bodyworks is committed to providing quality education and training to nurture the passion of Pilates amongst our teacher trainees .Alvin is certified as a Pilates Teacher by Master Teacher Ron Fletcher and the first teacher in Asia that he has personally certified. He is the first in Asia to pass the international examination for Pilates teachers set by the Pilates method alliance in the US and to be certified as a PMA gold certified teacher. Based on his extensive experience and education in this field, Alvin has created a comprehensive Teachers’ Training programme, which has been credited by leading Master Teachers, to aid you in your learning journey towards becoming a qualified Pilates instructor. Our teaching aids will contribute to increasing your awareness and knowledge of the human body.

Currently, we offer certifications in both Matwork and Reformer. Specialised certification in other equipment such as wunda chair, cadillac or spine correctors are available.

Matwork Certification Course

The Mat program provides instruction in Pilates principles, techniques and practice with emphasis on group dynamics for the Pilates Mat. This course teaches you to design and teach the Matwork repertoire to meet the specific needs of your clients.

Course Overview

At the end of the programme, students will be able to:

  1. Understand the Mat exercises and how to apply it in their bodies.
  2. Understand the basics and progressions of each of the 34 mat work pieces.
  3. Perform the mat movement pieces with proper intent.
  4. Effective communication and observational skills, verbal cueing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation.
  5. How to develop programs for personal and group classes.
  6. Teach mat work pieces at a satisfactory level.
  7. Modifications for specific body types, postural issues and conditions.

Course Curriculum

  1. Fundamentals (10 hours)
  2. Matwork L1 & L2 (20 hours)
  3. Matwork L3 & L4 (20 hours)
  4. Final Exam (Consists of theory and practical)

Review Requirements

Observation, Practice Teaching and Physical Review Requirements

Our programs provide a balanced and thorough blend of theory, observation and practical experience to help you master therepertoire. A minimum number of hours of observation, practice teaching and physical review are required for all courses in order to prepare you for the exam. All these must be logged and submitted at the time of the practical exam.

Recommended Hours

  1. 50 hours of Courses Lecture
  2. 50 hours of Observation
  3. 50 hours of Self Practise
  4. 50 hours of Apprentice Teaching

Pilates Bodyworks offer unlimited group sessions package (consists of self practise, observation and apprentice teaching), please contact us for more details.

Examination Components

  1. Theory Exam
  2. Performance Exam
  3. Teaching skills – group class
  4. Teaching skills – one to one *(Examination must be taken within 6 months after the completion of the course)

Matwork & Reformer Certification Course

This course teaches how to design and instruct Mat and Reformer workouts in personal or group training settings for a range of clients. This course teaches you to design and teach the Matwork and Reformer repertoire, integrating accessories to add variety and effective use of the reformer to meet the specific needs of your clients.

Course Overview

At the end of the programme, students will be able to:

1. Understand the Mat & Reformer exercises and how to apply it in their bodies.

2. Understand the basics and progressions of all the Mat Work and Reformer pieces.

3. Perform and teach the Mat and Reformer movement pieces with the proper intent.

4. Effective communication and observational skills, verbal cueing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation.

5. Teach Mat and Reformer work at the highest level.

6. Modifications for specific body types, postural issues and conditions.

7. Adapt exercise sequences for diverse populations and group classes.

8. Design and implement a successful exercise or treatment plan using the Pilates Reformer.

Course Curriculum

  1. Movement Fundamentals (10 hours)
  2. Reformer L1 & L2 (20 hours) and Matwork L1 & L2 (20 hours)
  3. Reformer L3 & L4 (20 hours) and Matwork L1 & L2 (20 hours)
  4. Final Exam (Consists of theory and practical for both Matwork & Reformer)

  1. 150 hours of Courses Lecture
  2. 100 hours of Observation
  3. 100 hours of Self Practise
  4. 250 hours of Apprentice Teaching (Consist of Private, Matwork, Reformer Group and Reformer Allegro)

*Examination must be taken within 6 months to 1 year (max) after the completion of the last module.

Certification Requirements:

  1. To be eligible for certification, trainees must:
  2. attend weekly group training sessions
  3. attend workshops
  4. complete minimum hours of observation, independent practical work and practice teaching
  5. complete all readings and assignments
  6. pass final written and practical exams
  7. on a part time basis, a certificate will take approximately 2 years.
